YOUR club needs YOU! Volunteer for just an hour at Hillhead Sports Club!

Hillhead Sports Club wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the volunteers who founded the club over 100 years ago. The enthusiasm and spirit of those founding volunteers have been passed down through generations and lives on today, with most of our activities still being led by today’s fantastic band of ‘Hillhead Heroes!’

We encourage and welcome members who are willing to volunteer some of their time to help support the club’s activities and keep us progressing towards our aims and goals. We are thus actively looking for volunteers across all sections of the club, from ‘Micro-volunteers’ who’ll devote just an hour or two to help with specific events or tasks, to more regular roles such as sub-committee members.

Please contact Board@HillheadSportsClub if you are interested in volunteering to help in any of the following roles:.

Board members and sub-committee members

Hillhead High School War Memorial Trust, trading as Hillhead Sports Club (HSC), is seeking to appoint new board members and sub-committee members to ensure that we have the capacity, skills, and enthusiasm to ensure the continuation of the trust, its aims, and its constituent sections. In this role, you will oversee the next exciting phases of our evolution. The roles are unpaid, voluntary positions.

Board members are expected to devote roughly 1–1.5 days a month to a role that is mostly flexitime, other than attending two meetings per month in person or online. The role is for a recommended term of 2–3 years.

Sub-committee members are expected to devote roughly 1 day a month to their role, which is mostly flexitime other than attending one meeting per month in person or online. The role is for a recommended minimum term of one year.

As we continue to try and create as inclusive and diverse an environment as possible, we value the perspective and contribution of all adult members, regardless of their race, sex, disability, age, religion, or sexual orientation. The following groups are currently underrepresented: younger adults; women; members with disabilities; members from our LGBTQ+ communities; and members from ethnic minorities.

Other opportunities include:

Social Events

Our social events are popular, and we would like to encourage ‘once-off’ volunteering to help with individual events. We would also welcome those wishing to help originate social events in a more formal role on a monthly, rolling basis. For example, we would like someone to help us develop regular and safe events for our younger members.

Social Media

We’re in the process of recruiting a social media professional who will overlook HSC’s various social media accounts. In the meantime, we require someone to keep our HSC accounts ticking over with a few posts a week. This role involves a monthly time commitment of 2-3 hours maximum.

HSC food bank

HSC is a force for good in the local community, and we’d like to see that continue to develop. We’d like a volunteer to explore the possibility of setting up a permanent food bank on-site, with donations to be distributed equally among our local food banks. The aim would be to set this up in a way that is as low-maintenance as possible.
